Around the world and back again

Working globally expands your mind.
Builds capability. Stimulates innovation. Helps you see the future. Let me share that with you. |
I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work across so many nations, cultures and industries and I get enormous pleasure out of sharing my experiences, and those of my global clients, with you.

Sharing know-how, linking people
I have enjoyed an extensive global career in both consulting and executive management. I have lived and worked in many cultures including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom, continental Europe and the USA.
On my journey I acquired deep cross-cultural and international experience with global and local businesses that enriches my insights and vision for the future. When I returned down-under, the distance and physical isolation of Australia and New Zealand was more evident than before, but there are strengths that come from that too and my aim is to make them work for you. |
The journey: gathering skills and know-how

Asia-Pacific-USA
I established my first consultancy business in New Zealand after a couple of years in marketing management in service industries. Cording Young Ltd was one of the first management consultancy firms in Asia-Pacific to specialise in professional and financial services. It delivered strategy and change consultancy to clients in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and California, USA. SE Asia
I then started on my quest for 'lived experience' in other cultures. My first stop was Asia. I established the inaugural role of Executive Director for Singapore-based Shook Lin and Bok, a top-4 regional law firm, learning how to operate in the East. I relished the opportunity to work across the SE Asia region representing my firm with major global clients as we repositioned the business for growth. Europe
I then joined Kinsley Lord Towers Perrin in London, United Kingdom, a strategy and organisation change consultancy firm as a member of the executive team. From my London base, I worked across 12 European nations learning much about global business, while adapting on a weekly basis to working in another culture and appreciating the differences. My clients were mostly global professional firms and major listed financial institutions. Asia-Pacific
My next stop was Sydney, Australia, where I established consulting firm growthcurv Pty Ltd to advise clients across Australia and Asia to be more effective in the Asian Century. Services included how to check your 'going global' strategy and align your culture to deliver it, before embarking on transformational change. Arriving back down-under after many years in the northern hemisphere, illuminated how isolated New Zealand and Australia are, and how different our Island cultures are from continental nations that enjoyed shared borders and blended cultures. I wanted to help local business develop greater cultural adaptability to survive the Asian Century and embarked on a listening tour that culminated in a book called Stepping Up. Working now with Australia and New Zealand clients from both Sydney and Auckland locations, continue to support local business to enhance their growth strategies, align cultures to deliver them and lead transformative change to pivot when needed and ensure long-term results are delivered as well as short-term goals. |
Global Clients
On my journey, I worked with both private and public organisations, major global enterprises and SMEs, a range of government organisations and dozens of professional partnerships. |
Stepping Up: Lead culture change for diversity and growth in the Asian Century
Stepping Up is a leadership book. It explains how to change organisational and industry cultures to boost diversity and productivity, and stimulate growth in the Asian Century.
