1. CEO and the Board - Governance in a Pandemic

Boards are ultimately responsible for setting growth strategy and creating the right cultural environment to enable its execution. Advance 1 and 2 - Leading Post-Pandemic Growth and Change - provide Boards with insights and deeper understanding of the critical relationship between strategy and culture, using local and global examples. Governance during a pandemic requires new thinking, ability to pivot and a preparedness to create a more agile organisation. These Programs impart the confidence to be brave.

Objective

To allow the Board and the CEO opportunity to explore frameworks built on the experience of others and apply them against current organisational and industry challenges facing the business, and thereby creating space for bold solutions to arise that will enable more agile and rapid response the changing landscape created by the current pandemic.

2. CEO and Top Team - Redirecting the Ship and Surviving Radical Change 

The CEO and Top Team are responsible for reviewing direction and goals and proposing the most effective growth and culture strategies to their Boards for approval. When delivering Advance Programs to this group we provide space for current challenges to be explored using the insights and frameworks presented along the way. These workshops are 'real time' in that executives bring their  reality into the room as a test ground for new ideas to emerge.

Objective

The Advance Programs builds the cohesion and confidence of the leadership Team to respond the the pandemic, by giving them 2021 insights, skills and methods that will unite their approach, message and performance to be witnessed by all. In this time together, they will develop and create a compelling strategic response to the pandemic, which, when communicated to the business, will illuminate their unity and positively impact morale in the organisation.

The pace of change required to keep up with new technologies was fast. The pace of change required of all of us when the pandemic emerged early 2020 was instant. Organisations and their leaders came under enormous pressure to pivot their strategies and adjust their organisations 'yesterday'. The assumptions, value and beliefs that drive behaviour, and performance in organisations were 'reset' and your management of where the culture ends up, is vital to steadying the ship to deliver survival strategies and make the journey to 2030.

3. Top Team and Direct Reports - Developing Personal Power of the People who Manage the People

Which of your people have been previously trained to manage catastrophic change like that of the current pandemic? Any? The Advance series, when delivered to the Top Team and direct reports together, takes on a different emphasis - the emphasis is on empowering these people managers to be leaders who are managing change in a crisis.  

Objective

Your leaders will acquire 'expertise' in driving performance by linking your strategic response and the new behaviours required to manage rapid organisational and cultural adjustment, thereby boosting the employee 'trust and respect' required to gain followship. This heightened trust and respect helps employees to feel secure and confident in the unexpected changes being asked of them.

Advance Builds 'Personal Power'

There are 5 Types of Leadership Power and the Advance Programs, when delivered to this group, focusses on building Personal Power.

Formal Power
  • coercive - leaders rely on employee fear of loosing their job or promotion
  • reward - leaders use their ability to provide promotion to illicit better performance
  • legitimate - leaders rely on their position and title to 

Personal Power (The focus of Advance Programs)
  • expert - leaders have unique skills and knowledge to solve organisational issues
  • referent - employees trust what leaders do and respects their handling of tough situations

Top Team and 1x External Stakeholder Group - Solving Industry Challenges Together

The Advance series, when delivered to the Top Team and a major influencing stakeholder together, takes on a different emphasis - the emphasis is looking for opportunities to collaborate to solve industry challenges together to remove growth obstacles and address any 'Catch 22' situations undermining the mutual effectiveness of the relationship. (A 'Catch 22' is a dilemma from which there is no escape because of a mutually conflicting or dependent condition.)

Objective

By explore strategies together and developing your own Culture Circuit each party can identify how they impact one another's performance, how others in the value chain impact on your performance and how to influence a shift. We will use Advance 1 to explore and agree on industry wide strategies needed for success in the post-pandemic environment and Advance 2 to detail culture and conduct changes that would help to fuel growth and innovation to ensure survival to 2030.
